My early work was in wood and I aimed to work
accurately from clay models to produce realistic human
forms.
Over the years I have moved to working mainly in stone
and have enjoyed becoming freer and increasingly
abstract. I start with an initial idea and then develop
this directly with the stone. I enjoy the process of
using hand tools to shape the bulk and find the lines,
smooth curves and rough surfaces that feel “right” for
the material.
I am a Member of the Birmingham Art Circle and an
Associate of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
